If the 20 days of frost is unusual, that could be the culprit. It sounds like cold damage. When the plant gets cold at night, followed by a sunny day, injury can occur if the plant warms too quickly. Wait until the chance of more frosts has passed before doing any pruning of nipped branches. Other things you can check for are gray mold or aphids. Here is more information:
