Laurel leaves

Question

Thank you in advance for your help. I planted a row of 4 foot laurels last year and this year there are two that have problems. I can’t seem to find any photos on the net of the pattern developing on the leaves on one tree (photo one). It seems to radiate out from the spine of the leaf and is almost symmetrical. Eventually, it curls and falls off. The other tree looks like it might have some kind of fungus at the tips. Can you help me identify the pale spot patterned disease in photo one please, and anything you can suggest to help them both?

I am worried it might spread to the others. Should I cut them right down? Also, I have within two feet a compost bin that I use mostly for citrus peels. It’s always very mouldy in there due to the sugars in the peel. Will this cause fungus infections in the laurels? Hope this is not too much for you. Many thanks for giving me the chance to ask. This would appear to be Leaf Blight.

You mention the mold issue in a compost bin, near your Mountain Laurel.
Not enough sunlight and air circulation can be factors in Leaf Blight disease.

Having a proper mix of green and brown in your compost will help keep molds under control.
