Large Acer In Pot. Over Or Under Watered??

Question

I have lost many an acer in pots. I know they have thin leaves and like a little sun in the morning. I have held back from over watering but wondering looking at this picture if I am getting the watering feeding right. It’s 5 ft and always looks good in the spring but as summer approaches I see these withering leaves. Any help would be appreciated. What am I doing wrong… 🥴

Unfortunately, Verticillium may be to blame. This disease will prefer overly moist conditions.
