Wild Onions Taking Over

Laid new sod in Sept. Looks great except I have about 100 wild onions growing. Lawn is in shade and is only about 25×35. I’m willing to dig up but I know I won’t get the bulb. I heard boiling water with vinegar, salt and gin will work. Is that true? I don’t mind plugging the fescue. Too many onions!
