Kwanzan Japanese Cherry Tree In Zone 8

My son wants to plant a Kwanzan tree about 8 feet from the house in a courtyard. What advice would you give?

Since they grow to 25 feet tall, they are more often seen planted as a street tree. Eight feet is really too close to the house for a tree, 15 feet is better if you can manage it. You always want to allow for the canopy spread, so it doesn't go over the roof. Here is more on their care:
