Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comWe have moved into a townhome which has 12 ficus trees planted about a year ago for privacy in the backyard. I am afraid the roots will grow under the concrete in the backyard. Is it a good idea to put up a “wall” at the edge of the concrete to discourage the roots from growing in?

Ficus trees, depending on the variety, can be very invasive. In south Florida it’s even against the law to plant them outside. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/problem-tree-roots.htm [1]

Thank you, ficus wrangler! Your answer and references were most helpful. I can now proceed to get the “wall” with confidence!
