Keeping Boston Ferns over the winter

If I hung them in my heated garage(60) in October when would I clip them down and when would I start to fertilize them if I wanted to hang them outside again in May? Would I use Miracle Grow 1/2 strength to fertilize? If I wanted to repot in larger pots when would I do that? And can I use Miracle Grow potting soil? How often should I water under these conditions? I bought 20 this year and I can’t afford to ever buy again like that.
Thank you! Diane Swartz
