How best to keep Gerbera Daisy alive through the winter to be rejuvenated in the Spring. Cut all leaves back ? before or after a mild frost? does frost matter?

Gerbera daisies are winter hardy in zones 8 through 10. It looks like you are in zone 6b, so it would be very difficult to keep this plant alive over the winter outdoors. The best bet would be if you can bring them indoors, or simply plant new ones next spring.
