Javalina is not a pig or hog as your article suggests. They are a rodent and are Collared Pecary. Misleading to some newbies in areas where they occur.

While they are not the pigs that most are accustomed to, they are in the same family, Tayassuidae. These are considered "new world pigs". In the first paragraph, the articles goes on to state that they are, in fact, a peccary and in a different species (same genus) of the common pig. Please refer to this article:
