Japanese maple problem

My courtyard Japanese Maple appears to be dying. The leaves are dried out and falling. I have tried a fungus spray but it didn’t seem to help. Any suggestions?

Remove any dead material and dispose of.
Removing and replacing old mulch also may help in controlling any fungus issues.
Repeating treatment of a fungicide may be necessary.
