Japanese Maple

My Japanese Maple is about 50 years old, but now, instead of shedding its scarlet leaves into my pond, this year it retained its leaves. They are still on the tree — brown — & get blown off.
Is it about to die, or does it have a disease?
Thanks.

I don’t think there is anything wrong. Some years it will do this. I don’t believe that you have anything to worry about.

This article will refresh you on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/japanese-maple/japanese-maple-care.htm [1]
