Japanese knotweed

Question

We have an elderly neighbour, whose garden is overgrown. Environmental health have advised that there is Japanese knotweed at the top of her garden (approx 20 metres from the house) but I am seeing what looks like bindweed in our garden. I know JN can travel up to 7 metres but can someone confirm this?
