Jade has gone limp

I keep trying to figure out what is going on with my jade. I know it’s either underwatered or overwatered. We went out of town so I gave it a good watering as I have in the past. The difference this time was I poured some water in the saucer. Upon our return and since the jade has been losing branches and some of the big branches are now drooping. There are spots that look as though it is dehydrated but then the symptoms seem to indicate underwatering. Since we got back and I thought I overwatered it I let it dry out a bit and have slowly been watering again. I can’t lose this plant, please help. What I am most confused about is that it still has a bunch of new green growth which to me indicates healthy and thriving. Attached is a photo from a couple months ago.

When going on long trips, you will need to devise a way to water slowly. Leaving it in water will ALWAYS lead to an infection and root rot, as you have found out, unfortunately.

You can try a fungicide, but usually this is fatal. The only way to deal with root rot will be prevention, since once it is present, it will usually kill the plant.
