The tree should have a good chance of recovery. Since cherry trees can be sensitive to transplant shock, the most important thing now is to keep the soil consistently moist without overwatering. Give it a deep soak to encourage root establishment, and consider applying mulch around the base to retain moisture while keeping it a few inches away from the trunk to prevent rot. Avoid fertilizing for now, as the roots need time to settle before being pushed into new growth. Providing some temporary shade could help reduce stress. Some wilting or leaf drop is normal, but as long as the branches remain flexible and buds look alive, the tree is likely adjusting. It may take a season or two to fully recover, but with careful watering and monitoring, it should establish itself in its new location.
