Q.indoor orange tree

Zone spokane wa. 99216 | pepino44 added on November 1, 2016 | Answered

I’ve had an orange tree indoors for 10 years and it has never produced any flowers. What can I do? How can I get my indoor orange tree to produce flowers and fruit?

It is difficult to get orange trees to produce flowers and fruit indoors because of the lower light levels compared to outdoors. The more light you can give them, the better.

If you can, place the tree outdoors during the spring and summer to give it more light, then bring it indoors to protect from frost. Indoors, place in the sunniest spot you have, and/or try using mylar reflectors with CFL lights to bounce more light onto the leaves.
