Q.Is Yucca Flowering or Going to Seed

Anonymous added on May 17, 2011 | Answered

I have a yucca in the garden (8 feet tall). It has in the last two weeks formed very thick stems out of the top, with loads of spray-like seed heads. Is it coming into flower or going to seed?

Yes, the plant is getting ready for flowering, which will either be white or cream colored. Once it's finished, it will begin forming brown seed pods, which you can collect and plant or simply remove the faded flowering stalk and discard.
