Q.Is This Scale On My Ficus!?!

Zone St. Louis, MO | Anonymous added on January 12, 2021 | Answered

I was given this ficus 2 years ago. Still learning about it. But I love it. Noticed the extra sap and looked into it and now I’m worried it might be scale. I’m seeing these little bumps covering pretty much the whole tree I guess I just thought it was the bark texture. Now I’m freaking out if it’s actually hundreds of bugs omg. I feel so terrible I had no idea. I also found a few tiny white fluffs like spider mites but not many at all so far. I went ahead and sprayed it with a dish soap mixture, and scraped some of that off but there’s still a scar or mark on the tree. Will this be there forever? The tree still has bits of new green coming in but some leaf yellowing and drop just started happening. Can it be saved? Should I get rid of it? I don’t know what to do. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

It does look like it. I would treat this plant with neem oil, and soon. Be sure all the best growing conditions are in place. Here are articles that will help:
