Q.Is There Anything That Can Be Done to Help Promote Tomatoes

Zone 05 | Evie2473 added on August 6, 2012 | Answered

It’s been a very hot and dry summer and although my tomato plants look healthy, there have been few tomatoes. The plants are in containers and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to promote tomatoes?

There are several reasons why you may fail to get fruits. Most common would be too much nitrogen fertilizer, which can be offset with the addition of phosphorus rich fertilizer or bone meal. You may also have an issue with poor pollination (common in hot weather), which you can rememdy by hand pollinating.
