Q.Is there any way to deodorise/cleanse soil a cat has used as a toilet?
A neighbour’s cat has been using a corner of my garden as a toilet, I hadn’t quite realised the extent of it but now the smell is really appalling and plants are not doing too well (doesn’t seem to stop the weeds though!).
I’ve removed all visible deposits and trying to deter the cat with odor-based repellants, but the smell is not fading, presumably mixed into the soil.
Is there anything I can do to repair the soil, or do I need to dig it out and replace the top soil?
The feces of cats can contain a multitude of parasites including the one that causes toxoplasmosis, a disease that can be dangerous to pregnant women or those with a weak immune system.
The second concern is that cats like to use areas that smell like their waste, so it's important to remove all sources of that smell, otherwise they'll be back.
