They can help, but they will only contribute small amounts of nitrogen. You will want an orchid fertilizer (which will feed any epiphytic plant such as this one) that is blended for them, specifically, since they can be a bit particular. If you want to provide the bare minimum, then provide a diluted 10-10-10 water soluble fertilizer.
