Testing done on whether coffee grounds help acidify the soil do not show much, if any effect on pH. Most of the acid leaches into the beverage. The amount of acid in coffee beans varies widely from region to region which partially accounts for the different taste of coffees. Grounds, like any kitchen scrap, is a good addition to the compost pile.
