Is pine bark a good mulch for roses?

It can be used just fine for roses. Don't make it too thick as that can promote some mold and fungus growth that will not be good for your roses. It can also harbor some insects that might be a problem. So spray it down with some fungicide as you lay it and then keep an eye on things. Some folks use it here as well as the pine needles and do just fine. They do keep an eye on things though.
