Is Our Creeping Fig Killing The Other Plants Nearby?

Last year we cleared out a section in the yard for a veggie garden. In one area there is a creeper fig (At least I think that’s what it is) on the fence and it’s spread under the garden bed and is growing under the wood retaining wall. Everything we planted in that area died. It would do okay for a few weeks then turn yellow and die. This included cucumbers, peas, a bell pepper plant, beets and strawberries. Most of these items did well in other sections of the yard with similar sun levels.

It could be the reason. The vine is very aggressive and requires a lot of water. It may have robbed your other plants of moisture. Yellowing can be a sign of improper watering.
