Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI live in Las Vegas, northwest of city. My purple fountain grass was planted June of this year. I’ve watered it every day and while it does have purple and tan blooms and the grass is purple and green, if you look in the center toward the bottom of the plant, it looks like straw. Is that bad? Also, is it too early to cut the blooms to put in a vase? Thank you and have a great day!

If the plant looks healthy otherwise, I would not be too worried about it. It could be just that sunlight is unable to make it that deep into the plant and it dies back a bit.
You can cut the plumes at any time. It will not harm the plant.
