Is it Too Late to Prune Crepe Myrtle

We moved into a house with several crepe myrtles near the fence. We live in north TN. We have been planning on having the trees trimmed, but haven’t done it. Today I noticed some leaves beginning to form on some of the branches. Is it too late to trim them now?
