Is It Safe to Eat Tomatoes Growing Inside a Hibiscus Pot?

We noticed a “volunteer” tomato plant growing in our hibiscus pot. We were afraid to try to repot the tomato plant, and now it’s got several grape tomatoes on it. We didn’t know if it was safe to eat the tomatoes since the roots are probably intertwined with the hibiscus plant. Thanks!
