Q.Is It Possible To Releaf A Papaya Tree That Appears To Have A Strong 4\’ Trunk Yet Has Lost Its Leaves

Zone 28269 | 20pordfan18 added on May 10, 2023 | Answered

The papaya tree is about one year old, has spent time out doors in Charlotte, NC yet has been inside from about October of last year. The leaves began to look unhealthy. I replanted it with a rich garden mix that is well draining. The leaves eventually fell off yet there is still green seen in the tip of the trunk. Is there anything I can do to encourage the tree to grow new leaves?

It sounds like it may have gotten an infection! Unfortunately, without photos it will be hard to say which. It will likely need to be treated with a fungicide. This article will help:
