Is it possible to have a peach stem growing out next to peach tree?

Hi,

I bought a peach tree from home depot. After a month from purchase, I realize there is a stem growing out next to the peach tree. Is that even possible? What should I do?

Please advise.

Yes, it’s possible for a stem to grow from the roots of your peach tree or from the lower part of the trunk. These are known as tree suckers. It’s best to remove them as soon as possible, since they can eventually damage the tree’s health, as explained in this article:
