Q.dig up and move a Banana shrub tree
Is it possible to dig up and move a Banana shrub tree? I want to dig up my banana shrub tree and move it to another location. Is that possible? How?
Yes, it is possible to move a Banana Tree.
It is best if the trunk is no more than 3 to 4 inches in diameter.
With a sharp shovel sever the roots and dig as large of a root ball as you can. Review the growing conditions in the link below for a good relocation planing site. Handle the tree carefully, as it can be damaged easily.
Plant the Banana Tree in the same depth as it was previously growing.
Use 2 to 3 inches of organic mulch around the new planting location to help with moisture control, but keep it away from the base of the tree.
Regular but not excessive watering will help the tree become established. 1 to 1 1/2 inches of rainfall or watering per week.
