Q.Small Quarter Size Potatoes

Zone northern ohio | LBV added on November 6, 2011 | Answered

Is it okay to use small quarter size potatoes from the garden from this year as seeds for next year? Or are we better off to buy seed potatoes next year?

I would recommend buying new seed potatoes next year. Small potatoes may not have enough energy to survive the winter and be viable next year. Even if they do, they will have a small initial energy reserve, which could affect the early growth of the plants next year.
