Is It Okay To Use Hedge Clippers On China Doll Outdoor Plants?

We prune them and our lawn maintenance company used hedge clippers on them and very concerned about damaging the china dolls around the outside of our house.

If it looks unattractive or stubby after pruning with hedge clippers, ask them to use pruning shears next time. I imagine they used hedge clippers for speed. It shouldn't need pruning except to remove dead branches or reduce its size.
