Q.Is It Okay To Leave A Sprout Alone And Develop?

Zone 40511 | Anonymous added on August 22, 2022 | Answered

I have a cherry tree, that has put out a sprout a few feet from it. I would like to leave it alone and let it mature into its own tree.

If this is not a grafted tree, then this can be ok. However, if this is a grafted specimen, you will not want to let those continue. they will steal nutrients and water from the top grafted scion of your original tree which may kill it.
