Is It A Bad Year For Pollination Of Old Urban Apple Trees

Neither my nor my neighbours, admittedly older than ourselves, apple trees produced much, if any blossom, and so no/little fruit has set this year. Any ideas why ?

Apples have a tendency to stop production, quite suddenly, once they reach a certain age. This is usually around 40 or 50 years. This can be earlier or later, though.

This is my suspicion.

Other than that, proper care will keep them at their best.
