Is bok choy/pak choi root edible?

I planted some Bok Choy (plants) and it bolted. I didn’t know that it was Bok Choy because it didn’t look like it does in the store. After googling many images for Asian greens, etc., I found that it looks like “pak choi bolting” images. I pulled one plant and the root looked like a rutabaga, but the leaves didn’t. Thank you.

It would be edible, but generally when a plant has bolted, it becomes quite bitter.
Cooking the Bok Choy though can help with bitterness.
