Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comWe planted some blueberry bushes last year and this year they look pretty good with a lot of new growth and flowers on them. We have noticed, however, there is a web-like substance on them and some green worms. Also, some of the leaves are being chewed by the worms (assumed). We are trying not to use pesticides and would like some advice on what to do about these problems.

Fruitworms which attack blueberry plants are one of these fruit plants most serious and devastating insect pests. Once the blueberries become infested, there is no way to kill off the fruitworms which are inside. All infested fruits must be handpicked and destroyed so the fruitworms do not migrate to nearby plants. Generally, it is a good idea to spray the blueberry plants soon after the bloom, but before the blueberries grow to 1/4 inch in diameter. Using an insecticide which contains diazinon will often stave off the infestation. You should always repeat the initial application again in ten days.
