Insect on Roses?

I have various potted plants on my patio and recently noticed these tiny green water drop like bulbs connected by a needle like stick/string. It looks like it might be the eggs of some sort of insect? Hoping you can identify for me. Thank you! Becky in Los Angeles

Hi Becky. Now that is a strange looking thing indeed! I am going to share your photo with a friend of mine that is a retired professor from a University that is very knowlegeable in these things to see if he can give me an ID. Please stay in touch with me at rosebed7@gmail.com [1] so that I may give you an answer to this.

I just heard back from my friend on this and the news is great! Here was his response: These are the eggs of green lacewings. Green lacewings lay their eggs at the end of fine silken filaments. Oftentimes they are in clusters but some species lay individual eggs like in the picture that you attached. These insects are considered among the best of the beneficial insects to have in the home garden.
