Innoculant out of date

I have a can of inoculate that Has 12/30/12 on the bottom. I assume that is a “use before date”. Will it be good in earl spring of next year, or will it remain in the soil if I put it in furrows before the end of the year? I can return it, because it was shipped too late.

I think it should still be fine to use in spring, as it’s not that far past date.
