Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comHi, We have just inherited a old large Hoya plant from mum’s house as she has died. I found that it had been continually watered by carers/other family so I soaked up some of the excess water with a towel. The large pot it was in was half full of water too so I was concerned it was badly waterlogged. It used to flower well for mum and really hoping it survives in her memory. I haven’t watered it at all and soil still damp and Mum always said they don’t like repotting. Looking online to see what I can top up the pot with as not much compost left in there and it says Peat based with Perlite/ Vermiculite but soil already in the pot looks like just basic multipurpose compost. Please could you advise me the best compost to use and is it ok now to add some Peat based with Perlite or Vermiculite to normal compost. We would really appreciate any advice you could give us. Many Thanks. Kind Regards. Cheryl Worsley.

Compost mixed with seed starting soil, or peat will be just fine. There are a few things for you to know about the care that this plant needs, though. These articles will help:
