indoor winter fern care

Question

Live in NE Ohio, electric heat, relative humidity around 40-50 percent, temp 68F, south or north facing windows, sit in a bed of gravels that evaporate 2 cups a day, water once a week with both well and filtered water, mist daily. Yellow condition of a leaf soon turns into the entire stem dying. Help.
