Indoor plants

I have just bought an Areca plant, I am not good with plants and have tried to follow instructions. I have stood it on a table by a window which gets some sun. I am wondering if I have over watered or under watered because the tips of the leaves have turned brown. I am usually guilty of overwatering but now I am wondering if I have gone the other way!
