Q.indoor gardenia plants

Zone north west tennessee | ladywolf40 added on June 24, 2015 | Answered

Should I put my gardenias in direct sunlight in front of a window in my sunroom? The leaves are turning yellow and brown and there is a white powdery sticky substance at base of my blooms that have not opened up yet.

An indoor Gardenia needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight.

Yellow leaves are usually a watering issue, either to much or to little. Check the soil and if dry, water throughly.
The powdery substance could be powdery mildew, mealy bugs or scale.
Treat the plant with Neem Oil. It works as both fungicide and pesticide.
