Q.Incorrect information about tree roots.

Anonymous added on July 31, 2020 | Answered

You website states some trees are deep rooted vs shallow rooted. This is incorrect, tree roots will only grow where conditions are conducive for root growth. They need air, water and nutrients. In shallow clay, soils conditions are not able to support deep roots due to the lack of oxygen. Root architecture is based on soil conditions and not species.

Thank you for your observation. Here is more information on this subject. This document will explain the nature of tree roots and the differences, genetically set, by some different species: http://arnoldia.arboretum.harvard.edu/pdf/articles/1989-49-4-tree-roots-facts-and-fallacies.pdf

I will send your comment to the editorial department. Thanks again.
