Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI planted my garlic on 10/28 and dug them up on 7/11 a year later, all the bulbs were fine, good size, well formed. I let them dry for 14 days then cleaned them, they were still all very good. I then stored them in my climate controlled basement in mesh bags, they get good air circulation. Since storing them in early August I noticed approx. 50% of them have dried out (you can compress each whole bulb between thumb & forefinger) Its like the cloves have dried out and disappeared, the ones that still have cloves, the cloves are off color, brownish like. This is the 6th year I have grown garlic and is the first year I have had this problem. Any ideas as to what the problem is ? Thanks.

The humidity may have been too low or they became infected. These articles should help for next year:
