Impact of Sea Air on plants?

I have direct sea air coming into 2 small balconies. The plants are misted every day. There is a mesh around these balconies to reduce the impact of sea air. Direct sunlight is filtered through these balconies for about 1-2 hours in the morning – the rest of the day has good light without sun. Many plants have died due to the sea air/breeze. Those surviving are Rapphis Palm and Bird’s Nest Fern.
What can I do to reduce this sea breeze impact? What plants do you think would grow here? Would Heliconias be able to take impact of sea air breeze?
