Q.I’m Repotting My Asparagus Fern The Root Ball Is On Top And Really Full On The Pot. Help

Zone 85743 | Anonymous added on April 2, 2021 | Answered

Do I cut the roots down and do I cover the top roots. There are little bulb like things on the roots will it matter if they are removed?

I'm not real clear on the rootball being on top. Did it grow from below and grow out of the pot to the top? You can trim the roots while you are transplanting and you can remove the bulblets. You can actually plant those if you want to grow more ferns. The bulblets are a nutrition storage device for the fern in case of lean times.
