Q.Poison a Yucca

Anonymous added on February 13, 2014 | Answered

I have some large yucca plants in a flower bed next to the swimming pool. I want to cut them down and poison the roots with Round-up, but I’m concerned about the poison leaching into the soil and then with the rain, the possibility it may land up in the pool. Does poison leach out of the roots?

As long as you are painting the Round-Up directly onto the plant, it cannot get out of the roots. If you are spraying, what can happen is that wind can carry the spray onto surrounding plants, which many people think means that the chemical spread through the soil when in fact it had spread through the air.
