Q.Ideas to make a garden presentable looking

Zone Belfast, Northern Ireland | Anonymous added on May 17, 2017 | Answered

I have recently had some trees removed from my back garden.
I have attached some photos of what is left behind.
I am looking for ideas of how to make the area more presentable.
I had considered using wood chippings to level the area from the wall to the corner of the horizontal fence then topping with stones. I know that the big tree stump will still be visible but I would plan to make a feature out of it somehow. (Photo 4)
The area along the path to the edge of the vertical fence is my main problem – any ideas? (Photos 1 & 2)
The path in photo 3 s the only access to the grass area for cutting.
I have spent quite a bit of money putting the fencing up to obtain privacy following the trees being removed so don’t want to spend a fortune finishing it off. The area also doesn’t get the sun after lunchtime so will not be used very much.
Any ideas welcome!

Thanks
Emma Kennedy

I would certainly start with a wish list!

Do you want color, perennials, ground covers, ornamental trees, shade cover?
How much sunlight does the planting areas receive?
How much maintenance do you want to do?

From the images, it appears this area is quite a slop. Water run off is something to consider.
