Q.I Would Like A Metal Plant Friendly Sealant To Use On Cut Edge Corrosion And Would Like A Plant Friendly Metal Primer.

Zone Birmingham | Anonymous added on February 16, 2025 | Answered

I’ve removed most of the rust by abrasion but I’d like to apply a sealant to prevent it from rusting in the future. I don’t know which sealant is plant friendly though as I’m worried it will leach into the soil. Also, they ve been left out for quite a long time and the birds have got to them. I’ve cleaned the remaining faeces off but the acidity has left a mark on the metal so I would like to paint them to make them look more aestheticly pleasing. The problem is I can’t find a cheap plant friendly metal paint so I’ve decided to apply a primer then paint it with plant friendly wood paint. However, I also can inf an affordable metal primer so I’m a bit stuck and I need to some guidance. Please help!!

We don't make product recommendations, but this article says to look for non-toxic rust inhibitor or clear enamel to prevent rust on metal.

I did an internet search for plant friendly metal primers and several came up. They had labels such as non-toxic, low VOC formula and zero VOC formulas.
