I was given a Gardenia bush and know nothing about this plant.

Live in Utah cold winter. How do I make the correct soil mixture? I have a large container to plant it in but I have read it needs to have acidic soil and I have no idea how to produce this.

Your local nursery should have soil that's specially formulated for gardenias, or you can order it online. You can also periodically add some sphagnum peat to the existing soil to increase acidity.
