I am trying to make my school more green and I need some plant which could do well in a school environment. I live in Singapore so it is very hot and humid and I think that is a factor in plants. i am a very amateur gardener and do not know that much in a school environment

You don't mention the age of the students or what kind of school it is, but here is an article about themed gardens for schools. Also, if it is just for landscaping outside the building, check with your local nursery to find out what evergreens do well in your area, plus some deciduous shrubs. They always look good outside buildings. You could also add a flower garden if there is space and include perennials that won't have to be planted each year.
